Finding Success with Book 2 in My Series

I mentioned it in my last post, but I thought I could expound on it a little more here: I really am addicted to checking book rankings.  I know there's nothing I can do to really do to affect them by clicking that refresh button (except for maybe prayer), but dammit, I'm hooked anyway.  That said, here's the  latest for The Dumb Bitch:

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #1,648 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#32 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > African American > Women's Fiction
#33 in Books > Literature & Fiction > African American > Women's Fiction
#44 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > African American > Romance

Needless to say, there's been some slippage, I'm still very happy with how things are going.  Oddly enough, with me so hyped about how well Book 1 in the series has been doing, it's almost easy to forget that there's a Book 2 that's out:  A Ratchet City Tale 2: Dee's Story.  But when I look, there  it is, steadily climbing up the charts like The Little Engine That Could

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #4,813 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

The end result is that I now have two books in the overall Top 5000 on Amazon! It kind of blows my mind to think about it, because when I started this self-publishing journey I couldn't have imagined being this blessed. Of course, I'm a junkie now, needlessly obsessed with trying to figure out how to stay on this particular high for as long as possible.

Outside of the Almighty, I have to give thanks to my readers.  They have been so generous and encouraging with their praise that I can't help but blush. I will work hard to continue meeting their expectations - and hopefully succeed.

Pay It Forward

Also, there are many, many people - far too many to name - who continually give me a boost by retweeting my book-related tweets, sharing my Facebook posts, etc.  I am so happy for the support you've given me, and your goodwill shows the many ways in which we can all help each other achieve our goals. Thus, I will also be looking for opportunities to "Pay It Forward" (which, if you haven't seen it, is a movie with a neat - but powerful - little premise).

Thanks again to everyone for your continued support of my efforts.

Another Milestone: The Top 20!

Okay, this is actually starting to feel a bit surreal.  Early this morning, I was checking my ranking (yes - I'm addicted to it; rank-checking is a form of crack for authors), and I saw this for the The Dumb Bitch:

So I actually made the Top 20 in two categories, which put me on the first page of the rankings. Needless to say I feel blessed and am very humbled by the fact that so many readers seem to be enjoying my books.  This is really a lot more than I expected, but I'm thankful that my work is being so well-received. (Of course, that also increases the pressure to make the next book just that much better, because now there are expectations to be met. Let's hope I'm up to the challenge.)

Thank you, everyone, for all your support, and again, if you want to be notified when I release new books, please subscribe to my mailing list:  http://eepurl.com/bGbgR1

(And just FYI, I should mention that the second book in the series, A Ratchet City Tale 2: Dee's Story, also broke into the Top 100 last night:

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #6,302 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#93 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > African American > Women's Fiction
#97 in Books > Literature & Fiction > African American > Women's Fiction
#184 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > African American > Urban

It really is surreal, and I keep expecting someone to wake me up. On second thought, please don't...)

I Made The Top 50!

_________________________________________________________

Okay, it's the wee hours, but I can barely sleep because my book made a nice leap in the Amazon rankings, resulting in this:

As well as this:

Basically, The Dumb Bitch made the Top 50 in two categories, and broke into the Top 100 in a third! I feel incredibly blessed by the fact that readers seem to be liking the book - as well as the sequel, A Ratchet City Tale 2: Dee's Story - and have been remarkably generous with their praise. Now I can't wait to release Book 3!

*Update: It's stupid, I know, but I've been so excited by the good fortune that's been bestowed upon me that I decided to hit the "refresh" button one last time before trying to get some sleep, and this happened:

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #2,623 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

Yay!  I'm closing in on the Top 40! I give a big thanks to the man upstairs for blessing my endeavors, and to all the readers out there for their support!
